The 44th AWA-PTB Conference took place at the Federal Physical-Technical Institute (PTB) in Brunswick/Germany from the 24th to the 25th of January 2024.
Every year the conference brings a wealth of relevant stakeholders and perspectives on Legal Metrology together and fosters knowledge exchange, inspiration, and intelligent solutions for modern metrology and verification. Around 120 participants from the weighing industry, the Physical-Technical Federal Institute (PTB), and the verification authorities came together to discuss current issues in legal metrology.
This year, the event focused on the digital transformation in metrology and verification (Manufacturing-X, QI-Cloud, Quality-X, Gemimeg-II) and the revision of the European directives MID and NAWID. Digitalization poses new challenges for the cooperation between the weighing industry, PTB, and verification authorities and at the same time offers numerous opportunities for modernization.
The event finished with a panel discussion on the “Realignment of legal regulations in weighing technology – Desires, opportunities and risks.
